Community Roots operates several Urban Food Projects, in addition to our Urban Multi-Plot Farm and Neighborhood-based CSA in Boulder, Colorado.
* Community Roots CSA Outreach, a program that makes local, organic CSA shares available to low income households in the south Boulder area. We are identifying 5 low-income, food insecure families to take part in the 2009 CSA program. The shares offered to these families will be partially funded by individual donors, local businesses, and through work hours by the CSA outreach members. For more information, contact Kimberly Bryant.
* Community Fruits, a community fruit harvest and distribution program. We offer to utilize unused urban fruit from residential trees as a food resource. We are seeking homeowners who have fruit trees that are under-utilized for Community Roots to harvest their fruit and then distribute the produce: a portion to the homeowner, a portion to the volunteer laborers who harvested the fruit through the CSA program, and a portion sold at the Boulder Farmer's Market on Saturday. For more information on this program, contact Kipp.
* Apprenticeship Program, an opportunity for people to learn the Neighborhood Supported Agriculture model from Kipp Nash directly. The program meets once a week for several hours and includes both a hands-on component and a lecture. For more information, please contact Kipp.
* Speaking Engagements and Workshops, Kipp is eager to share urban farming on a neighborhood scale with as many interested folks as possible. He is willing to travel both throughout Colorado and nationally. Click here for a list of recent talks (link to Events page) For more information, contact Kipp at kippnash@hotmail.com.
