Ways to Support Community Roots

Kipp Nash gets help in one of the many local harvests.
1. Enroll as an Apprentice: The next Apprenticeship cycle begins in June 2009 and runs for one year. The fee is $100 per month.

2.  Volunteer and learn new skill sets on growing organic fruits and vegetables on your own property. To volunteer contact Kimberly at 303-499-0866.

3. In-Kind Support: We are always looking for a variety of small and large tools. If you have rakes, shovels, trowels or roto tillers and seed machines you are not using, please contact Forrest and we will arrange to come to your home and pick up your items. Thank you!

5. Donate to Community Roots Boulder today, your check payable to Community Roots Boulder and mail it us at xx Boulder, CO 80302.  Your contribution is not currently tax-deductible.

6.  Frontload Community Supported Agriculture – Dreamshare.   You can accelerate our work by paying in full for our food production at your residence.  These upfront payments help our ability to expand our work.

7. Make an Interest-Free Loan: Most community groups rely on interest-free loans for six to twelve months. If you can make a loan of $1000 or more, please email Kimberly or call 303-499-0866.

8.  Create a Community Fund Raising Event:   You can create barbeque or pot luck at your home and invite your friends. We can give you guidelines and consulting advice on timing, message, etc. Contact our development director, email Forrest or call him at 303-641-9941.

9.  Sponsor a House Party:  Invite eight to ten neighbors. We will send a speaker to explain the Neighbrhood Supported Agriculture concept and invite your financial support. Contact Forrest to schedule an event.

10.  Friend Get a Friend:  Most people give to causes because a trusted friend asks them to do so.  Think through your list of friends. Invite one or more friends to join you in financially supporting the work of Community Roots.

11.  Invite Support from your club or religious community:  Your best allies are those who already know and trust you. Ask your neighborhood association, spiritual community or community group to support Community Roots Boulder with an annual gift.

12.  Build Enthusiasm for Organic Farming at the Neighborhood Level.  Schedule a community visioning session and we will send a facilitator. Contact Kimberly at phone email

13.  Rely on the power of seasonality.  Events like Earth Day, Memorial Day and other seasonal celebrations and events are great times to schedule a Community Roots Boulder community building event.

Thank you for taking action today. Less than three percent of Boulder’s food is grown regionally.  Our average supermarket food purchases travel 1500 miles. This model is unsustainable. Help us shift to a new and sustainable agricultural paradigm by getting involved in Community Roots and supporting neighborhood supported agriculture.

Thank you for your continued support!
